Clara Lockyer is a Costume Designer and Maker.

 

"In my work, I try to create costumes with layers of symbolism both obvious and subtle. The costumes can be explored, leading to an in-depth understanding of a character; whether it is a laser cut Borgias inspired lace, or simply sweat and dirt marks on a collar. I try to create a person who has friends, family, and a backstory that can take an audience and actors to a new literary level. 

 

Working with people from different trades is another part of this career that I love. The worlds that we create become moulded and formed through each person creating another cog in the machine, whether it is the intricate hand stitching on a dress, atmospheric lighting or a gesture from an actor. We all collaborate together to create a new world. This special process continues to fascinate me and I look forward to where it leads."
